On Sunday, 21 June 2026, the Beach Sports Festival 2026 in Kaizuka Nishikinohama was held at Nishikinohama Beach in Kaizuka City, Osaka.
The event was blessed with beautiful weather, and the Beach Cricket Tournament attracted approximately 70 participants across 10 teams. Children and adults alike, regardless of their cricket experience, enjoyed a fun day of beach cricket together.
Beach cricket is a simplified version of cricket designed to make the game more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. In addition to the beach cricket tournament, visitors enjoyed a variety of activities, including pétanque, a beach sandal throwing competition, a beach clean-up activity, and food trucks. The festival successfully combined sport, recreation, and community engagement, creating an enjoyable experience for everyone in attendance.

The event was organised as part of the "City of Cricket Kaizuka" initiative, a collaborative project between the Japan Cricket Association, the Kansai Cricket Association, and Kaizuka City. Through initiatives like this, the Japan Cricket Association aims not only to develop cricket as a competitive sport but also to promote it as an enjoyable activity that anyone can participate in, while contributing to healthier and more connected local communities.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who participated and to all the volunteers, partners, and supporters who helped make the event a success.
