The Japan National Academy (Men's U19) squad will depart for Sri Lanka at the end of the week as part of the continued partnership between the two national federations.
The team will be based in Colombo throughout and play five matches across a 14-day visit to the country.
Opposition will be made up of U19 representative sides from across the Sri Lankan capital, as well as the Western Province team on the final matchday, a side that visited Japan in November 2019.
The tour follows the successful visit of the Men’s Japan National Team in August last year, and also comes after the Under 19 National Teams battled it out at the Under 19 World Cup in Namibia earlier this year.
National Academy Head Coach Reo Sakurano-Thomas will lead the team alongside Duncan Harrison as Team Manager and Hiromu Inoue as Trainer. Hugo Tani-Kelly will captain the side while Charlie Hara-Hinze Kaisei Kobayashi-Doggett are unavailable from the World Cup Squad.
The 15-strong squad are coming together for the first time since the Under 19 World Cup and this will be the first steps towards the ICC Men’s Under 19 World Cup Qualifier East Asia Pacific Division One which will take place sometime in 2027.
