The Women’s Japan Under 19 National Team made a perfect start to life on the international stage as they completed a four-run win against Myanmar at the ACC Women's U19 Premier Cup 2026 in Malaysia.
The win was inspired by a sublime 58 from 59 balls by captain Bianca Shino-Dyson after she won the toss and chose to bat first in the Kuala Lumpur heat, which also booked the team a place in the Quarter Finals.
Her innings, which contained six boundaries, led the team to 113 for seven from their 20 overs and she was well supported by Ayane Sakuraba (20 from 36 balls) in a partnership of 66.
With the ball Japan had five different wicket-takers, with Natsume Wada-Macdonald striking in the very first over, and all seven of the wickets taken were bowled.
Japan were well on top when Marina Kurihara (two for 19) struck twice in the 13th over to reduce Myanmar to 63 for 6, requiring another 51 from 43 deliveries.
However Myanmar fought right to the end as a partnership of 4 between Wathon Nadi (20 off 26) and Yoon Aung (17* off 19) look the chase to the last over with ten needed to win.
Senior international Mamta Kaswan (two for 12) held her nerve, breaking the partnership and seeing the team home by a narrow four-run margin to spark joyous scenes as the team embarks on an exciting new journey.
They will next face Thailand U19s tomorrow before a Quarter Final on Wednesday 15th July.
