Asian Games Conclude with Double India Gold

The Men’s and Women’s Asian Games concluded with India winning the Gold Medal in both competitions.

The Women’s Competition ended on September 22nd with India defeating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in a repeat of the 2023 Asian Games Gold Medal Match.

In the Bronze Medal Match Pakistan avenged their defeat to Bangladesh three years ago, winning by 31 runs to take their place on the podium.

The weather had a big say on events in the Men’s event as the Quarter Finals were entirely washed out, in the same way Japan’s last match in the group stages was. That meant Nepal, Malaysia, Hong Kong and 2023 Silver Medalists Afghanistan all exited early.

India were dominant in their semi final against Sri Lanka, while Pakistan again avenged their Bronze Medal defeat of 2023 to book a place in the final by defeating Bangladesh in a shortened match.

A full house was present in Korogi Park to watch India claim Gold on October 3rd at the expense of Pakistan, who left with Silver. In the morning Sri Lanka earned Bronze thanks to an impressive recovery against Bangladesh.

The JCA would like to formally congratulate Team India on their success while also acknowledging the hard work of the organising committee, staff and volunteers who put in so much effort to prepare the venue and put on such a memorable tournament.
